We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

High Tide:
08.21
(6.9m)
Low Tide:
14.42
(1.5m)

It's a refreshingly pleasant morning, all calm with clear blue skies and light, light wind.
The three feet of surf is close together but the lefts are spinning, helped to hold their shape by that light northerly wind.  Yep, it's certainly a massive improvement on the last few days or weeks but it still has a way to go before you could call it that good!
That should happen though as we go along, the wind is forecast to continue to calm and it is likely to slip more Easterly, which is always good for the shape of those waves but doesn't help the swell that much.  There's enough action out in the Atlantic though to keep those waves rolling in, not big or anything but big enough to ride and keep most of us entertained.
Yep, it's looking fun out there this morning!

No, write it off here today, in spite of that glorious sunrise bursting through the valley to light the bay.
Tiny and choppy little waves are being washed all over the place by that northerly wind, light though it is.
Anywhere on the other side is likely to be better than here today!

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Sunday 29th January 2012

Light and offshore winds are predicted and that means that any surf that gets through should be clean and organised.

Shame about the heavy rain that is also forecast too!
As these offshores start, we are likely to see a dip in the size of the existing swell.  It shouldn't go flat but it could go really small around low tide (mid-afternoon).  Any drop in size shouldn't last for too long though, the next swell should be pushing our way by evening.
Yep, it could be quite small but very pleasant surf today!

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

As that wind weakens, which I'm sure that most of us are wishing for, so too will any swell.
Saturday looks like a calm and pleasant day with not much more than a breeze expected for most of the day and still plenty of probably still a bit mixed up and thick swell about.
With just a little bit of looking about, we should be able to find some good breaking surf spots.
And Sunday is looking similar but maybe a bit duller and breezier.
I think that HTC could be fun, if a little sloppy and mixed up on both days.  That or real small (tiny) Harlyn?
Anyway, there should be waves and it should be another mild and bright (at least to start with) weekend ahead of us.
Have a good one, whatever you're doing!
