We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

A beautiful morning has dawned over sunny Constantine Bay this morning and.... there's a bit of a wave!  Don't get too excited, it's still small and not exactly what you'd call clean but after the last ten days or so, it is looking quite attractive.  There's a couple of feet of fairly close fetch surf rolling in along the reef and a light north north westerly breeze but all under a lovely blue sky.  There's a couple of okay, almost peeling lefts and rights, maybe hip to shoulder high (on take off) and nowhere near as bumpy as it has been.  So, that'll do!

Nah.  Write it off today.  There's barely six inches of slop rolling in with that breeze, light as it is, making for sloppy stuff.

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Friday 30th July 2010

More of the same sort of stuff with the main difference being the wind shifting to south westerly onshore instead of north westerly.  Still onshore but maybe slightly kinder.  More sunshine through most of the day should keep most of the visitors happy with just about enough surf to keep everyone else happy too.

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

We hope that you have been enjoying the weekly video surf report, thanks to John Eldridge of Ikandi and our very own shop monkey, Dom.  I have no idea what they are scheming for this week and I suspect that they don't know either.  Spontaneity, eh?  Anyway, catch it from Friday to Monday through Summer, or you can have a gander on our blog for the whole collection.

And that was all by way of saying that these lacklustre conditions are showing no signs of changing much yet, certainly not over the next few days.  But there should be enough surf to get going on and while it's likely to be a bit sloppy at best it's unlikely to be blown out entirely.
So, a couple of foot of weak and sloppy stuff.  That'll do for the middle of the summer holidays I guess.
Have a great weekend whatever you're doing!
